This LIVE online class is a 60-minute journey inward. We begin the class by releasing tension in the head, neck & shoulders. Next we experience a short meditation to begin to prepare the mind and body for the 20-30 minute Yoga Nidra guided meditation.

YOGA = union of body, breath, mind and spirit
NIDRA = sleep

Yoga Nidra provides a deeply restorative relaxation experience by harmonizing mind, body and breath. You can experience this guided meditation lying down or sitting up, either way you’ll bypass the busy chatter of your mind and ease into an experience of calm, relaxed awareness. This calm state allows the body’s natural healing response to restore balance and function optimally.

Neuroscientists have even discovered this state of non-sleep-deep-rest is an ESSENTIAL component in the process of adult neuroplasticity, aka the ability to consciously rewire our brains and bodies to learn new things, including healthier habits!

The Yoga Nidra practice offers the opportunity to set an intention or introduce an affirmation for calm, or healing, abundance, or happiness, whatever you choose without interference of self-doubt, worry, fear or your inner critic.

INTRO TO MEDITATION
HOW TO BUILD A MEDITATION PRACTICE THAT WORKS FOR YOU.

LEARN THE BASICS WITH EASY, SIMPLE 1-3 MINUTE PRACTICES.

These classes are designed with the realistic understanding that in order to begin, grow and strengthen a meditation practice it has to fit in your busy and sometimes complicated life. For most people even sitting still for 3 minutes can be a challenge, let alone the often prescribed 15-45 mins! Each week we’ll cover topics such as the nature of the mind, emotions and the power of the breath. There will be a short teaching at the beginning, followed by 2 short meditation practices based on mindfulness and yogic meditations.

The class is interactive so students will be able to ask questions and will come away feeling supported with ideas on how to begin their own home practice, and have an understanding of how to face and overcome the challenges meditation can present.

Our thoughts DIRECTLY influence our breathing patterns, emotions and actions. Creating a sense of calm balance and resilience begins with awareness. Meditation can show you the way.

MINDFULNESS & YOGIC MEDITATION

LOVING KINDNESS & COMPASSION meditation will focus on understanding and practicing meditations based on the core teachings of Loving Kindness, Compassion, and Self-compassion. These are powerful methods to create great inner calm, an expanded state of awareness and an ability to remain grounded and happy in the midst of fear and uncertainty.

LIGHT & ENERGY meditations focus on yoga principles of chakras, aka energy centers, and visualization techniques that use the power of the mind to access deeper states of inner awareness. The mind moves from ‘out there’ inward to cultivate the ability to become aware of stress and tension as it arises, better enabling you to make conscious choices for your overall balanced and harmonious well-being.
Using meditation techniques such as Body Of Light meditation gives you direct experience of your innate, powerful ability to manage your mind and enter states of deep calm, beyond external stresses and internal worries.

THIS CLASS focuses on deepening the breath and stretching the body. This encourages your body and mind to go into a deeper state of relaxation, releasing muscle and mental tension. You’ll release built-up from your busy week, helping to prepare you for a deeper Yoga Nidra experience, or simply begin the new week feeling more relaxed and tension-free.

In this deeply relaxing class you’ll experience what it feels like to calm the mind and relax the body through simple breathwork and easy stretches. You’ll be guided into poses that are fully supported with bolsters* and blankets, allowing you to relax effortlessly.

CLASS PROPS Tips & ideas
MAT = large towel
STRAP  = long scarf, tie, belt, rope or even a t-shirt will work
BOLSTER = fold and stack towels or blankets to the size and shape of a bolster, or wrap a couple of pillows TIGHTLY with a towel or small blanket to make the stack FIRM and create a bolster shape
BLOCKS = head to your book shelves and make a block or two by TIGHTLY wrapping your books with a towel to protect them HINT: test it out & make sure they are one solid unit to prevent damage to books, or you can try packing a shoe box with t-shirt’s HINT: the box may come out a bit ‘weathered’ looking so wrapping it with a t-shirt or a small towel can help
BLANKET = large towel
EYE PILLOW = any soft and light-weight cloth, for example a t-shirt, scarf or hand towel
